The planned construction of the "Trump Tower" in Australia has been officially halted.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that a spokesperson for the Trump Organization confirmed the termination of the project. The 1.5 billion AUD skyscraper, which was slated for development on Australia's eastern Gold Coast, was reportedly canceled after the local construction partner failed to meet its financial obligations.
According to reports from The Sydney Morning Herald, Altus Property Group was unable to fulfill key financial commitments despite months of negotiations. David Young, the head of the development firm, claimed that the brand of US President Donald Trump had become "toxic" in the region due to global geopolitical tensions. In response, the Trump Organization criticized these remarks, asserting that linking the project's failure to international events was an attempt to deflect from the developer's own financial instability.
The project was initially announced by Eric Trump in February as a 91-story landmark intended to be the tallest building in Australia. However, the proposal met with significant local resistance, including a petition signed by more than 142,000 people demanding the project be stopped. While construction never commenced, the Trump Organization has not ruled out the possibility of engaging in future real estate ventures within Australia.
