President Ilham Aliyev has sent a letter of condolences to the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, following a tragic maritime accident.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter states:
"Dear Mr. President,
We were deeply saddened by the news of the loss of life resulting from the ship accident that occurred near Kyrenia.
In connection with this tragedy, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and to your brotherly people on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
May God rest their souls!"
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) maintains close cultural and historical ties with Azerbaijan, reflecting the broader cooperation between Turkic states. Such messages of solidarity are customary in the diplomatic relations between Baku and Nicosia, underscoring the mutual support shared between the two nations during times of national mourning or crisis.
