President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on the occasion of March 23 – Pakistan Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state expressed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Prime Minister and the brotherly people of Pakistan on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, rooted in deep historical ties and shared religious and spiritual values, stand at a high level today," President Ilham Aliyev noted in his message. He highlighted that regular high-level visits and active dialogue provide a significant impetus to strengthening interstate relations across all sectors. The President specifically recalled the Prime Minister's visits to Azerbaijan last year as a testament to this growing partnership.
The letter emphasized the multifaceted nature of the bilateral agenda, covering political, economic, trade, industrial, energy, transport-logistics, defense, and humanitarian fields. President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the recent opening of the first "ASAN service" center in Islamabad as a practical result of this large-scale cooperation. He also lauded the mutual support between the two nations within international organizations as a clear example of Azerbaijan-Pakistan brotherhood and solidarity.
Pakistan Day, celebrated annually on March 23, commemorates the adoption of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, which paved the way for the creation of an independent Muslim state. Azerbaijan and Pakistan maintain a unique strategic partnership, characterized by Pakistan's consistent diplomatic support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the deep military-technical cooperation between Baku and Islamabad. The implementation of the Azerbaijani "ASAN service" model in Pakistan marks a new milestone in exporting Azerbaijan's institutional innovations to brotherly nations.
