President Ilham Aliyev has signed a new decree to amend several presidential decrees and orders in connection with the implementation of Law No. 90-VIIQ dated December 13, 2024, "On Demining Activities" in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decree introduces a new sub-clause to the Charter of the "Icherisheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration. Under the new provision (sub-clause 3.1.16-3), the administration is now mandated to grant permission for demining activities within reserve territories in cases where immovable historical and cultural monuments are discovered, ensuring compliance with the Law "On the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments."
A similar amendment (sub-clause 3.0.33-2) has been integrated into the "Regulations on the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan." This legal adjustment ensures that demining operations can proceed efficiently in areas of tourism and historical significance while maintaining the safety and integrity of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage. These measures are part of Azerbaijan's broader national strategy to clear liberated territories and other regions of landmines and unexploded ordnance to facilitate safe reconstruction and tourism development.
