Cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan in the fields of connectivity and transit opportunities holds significant importance, particularly given the substantial achievements of German companies in these sectors, President Ilham Aliyev stated.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during a joint press conference with German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
The head of state noted that Azerbaijan is actively modernizing its transport infrastructure. He emphasized that, following its engagement with the Central Asian consultative format, Azerbaijan is increasingly serving as a vital bridge between Central Asia and Europe, a role that is expected to grow in strategic importance.
Germany and Azerbaijan have maintained strong diplomatic relations since the establishment of their bilateral ties in the early 1990s. Germany remains one of Azerbaijan's key economic partners in Europe, with significant investments in the non-oil sector and energy infrastructure. The strengthening of these ties is viewed as a critical component of Azerbaijan’s broader strategy to enhance its position as a regional logistics and transport hub, connecting the East and West through the Middle Corridor.
