The role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan is undeniable, President Ilham Aliyev said during a meeting with residents in the city of Zangilan.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state emphasized that it was through the strategic activities and leadership of the National Leader that Azerbaijan was able to preserve its independence during its most difficult and turbulent periods.
Heydar Aliyev, who served as the President of Azerbaijan from 1993 to 2003, is widely credited with establishing political stability and laying the foundation for the country's modern economic development. His legacy is particularly celebrated in the context of state-building and the implementation of the "Contract of the Century," which integrated Azerbaijan into the global energy market. The liberated city of Zangilan, where the remarks were made, is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction as part of the "Great Return" program initiated by the Azerbaijani government to resettle former internally displaced persons.
