Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the letter states:

"Dear Mr. President,

It is with great pleasure that I extend to you my most sincere congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

There are excellent bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Austria. As the prospects for lasting peace and security between Azerbaijan and Armenia draw closer for the mutual well-being of the peoples of both countries, the opportunities for future cooperation will continue to grow.

In a multilateral context, allow me to express my gratitude for Azerbaijan's support of Austria's candidacy for membership in the UN Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

Taking this opportunity, I wish you and your family well-being, and I convey my best wishes for a peaceful and happy future for the people of Azerbaijan."

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Austria were established in 1992, shortly after Azerbaijan regained its independence. Since then, the two nations have maintained a constructive dialogue, focusing on economic cooperation, energy security, and cultural exchange. Austria has consistently supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and both countries actively engage within international organizations to foster regional stability and development.
