President Ilham Aliyev has addressed the participants of the "Baku Energy Week," a prestigious international platform that has become a cornerstone for shaping the global energy agenda and fostering new cooperation formats.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the President's message highlighted Azerbaijan's strategic evolution from a traditional hydrocarbon producer to a key player in the global transition toward sustainable, low-carbon energy systems.
"For many years, 'Baku Energy Week' has served as an influential platform where the global energy agenda is shaped and new approaches and cooperation formats are established," President Aliyev stated in his address. He noted that the event's significance grows annually as the world shifts from traditional energy models to strategies based on sustainable development and technological innovation.
The President underscored the historical milestones of Azerbaijan's energy sector, noting that the 30th anniversary of the Production Sharing Agreement for the Shah Deniz gas field and the 20th anniversary of commercial gas production from the field confirm the success of the nation's long-term energy strategy. He emphasized that energy security today is inextricably linked to the diversification of energy sources and the application of innovative technologies.
"Our country is implementing a consistent policy in the direction of 'green energy' and is further strengthening its strategic position," the President added. He highlighted that the large-scale restoration and reconstruction work in the liberated territories includes the successful implementation of a "green energy zone" model, which has also been extended to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Baku Energy Week is widely recognized as one of the most significant energy events in the Caspian region. It traditionally brings together government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from international energy companies to discuss energy security, decarbonization, and the future of regional energy infrastructure. The event serves as a critical venue for Azerbaijan to showcase its ongoing projects, including the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor and new investments in renewable energy infrastructure, such as wind and solar power plants currently under development.
