A delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova will attend the funeral and memorial ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the memorial services for Ali Khamenei are scheduled to take place on July 4-5 at the Mosalla complex in Tehran. Following the ceremonies in the capital, the funeral procession will proceed to the city of Qom. After the final rites in Qom, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad on July 9, in accordance with his last will.
The death of Seyyed Ali Khamenei follows the events of February 28, when he and several close family members were killed during a joint attack on Tehran. Following his passing, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was subsequently selected as his successor. This visit by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Baku and Tehran, reflecting the importance of maintaining high-level state-to-state communication during periods of regional transition.
