Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mojtaba Demirchilu has expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the position demonstrated during recent events.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ambassador made these remarks during a meeting with Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations. During the discussion, Demirchilu emphasized the deep-rooted historical, religious, and cultural ties between Iran and Azerbaijan, noting the importance of further strengthening these bilateral relations. He specifically highlighted the significance of humanitarian aid and moral support provided by the Azerbaijani state, which he noted is highly valued by Tehran.
Ramin Mammadov underlined the special care provided by the state for the preservation and development of spiritual values in Azerbaijan. He stated that the preservation of religious and spiritual heritage, the transmission of national values to future generations, and the strengthening of traditions of tolerance are among the priority directions of state policy in Azerbaijan. The chairman noted that the country's model of multiculturalism serves as a bridge for regional cooperation.
The meeting also covered cooperation in the religious sphere, prospects for developing mutual relations, and the importance of maintaining religious stability in the region. Both parties exchanged views on the possibility of implementing experience sharing in religious-scientific research. Azerbaijan and Iran share a significant cultural history and a long land border, with diplomatic efforts frequently focusing on regional security, transport corridors, and economic cooperation within the framework of mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
