President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message reads:

“Dear Mr. President,

Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your country’s national holiday – Independence Day.

This significant day, celebrated as the founding date of the first democratic republic in the Muslim world, serves as a symbol of freedom, sovereignty, and progress for the Azerbaijani people.

The Slovak Republic highly values the traditional friendly relations that exist with the Republic of Azerbaijan. The first official visit of Your Excellency to Slovakia last December significantly strengthened the ties between our countries.

I look forward to my upcoming official visit to your beautiful country. I am confident that the exchange of high-level visits will further deepen our relations and open new opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, investment, and culture.

Mr. President, please accept my wishes for your robust health, personal well-being, and continued success in your high state office.

At the same time, I wish you and the entire people of Azerbaijan lasting success, peace, and prosperity.

Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Background: Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, celebrated on May 28, marks the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, which was the first secular parliamentary republic in the Muslim world. Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia have been steadily developing, with high-level visits playing a crucial role in expanding cooperation across various strategic sectors, including energy and infrastructure.
