The Chinese government has expressed serious concern over the escalating conflict in Iran, officially confirming that one Chinese citizen was killed during the strikes in Tehran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Beijing has called for an immediate cessation of military operations and a return to diplomatic negotiations to prevent further regional instability.

During a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that more than 3,000 Chinese citizens have already been evacuated from Iranian territory. The ministry expressed its opposition to the use of force in international relations, characterizing the strikes by the US and Israel as a violation of international law. The MFA urged all parties to halt hostilities, prevent the expansion of the conflict, and respect the territorial integrity of regional countries.

The current escalation follows a period of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, involving multiple international actors and regional powers. China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has historically maintained a policy of non-interference while advocating for stability in the region to protect its significant energy interests and the safety of its expatriate workforce. This incident marks a significant development in Beijing's involvement in the crisis, as the death of a national often prompts more assertive diplomatic pressure from the Chinese leadership.
