Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has convened a meeting of the Security Council to discuss the unfolding events around neighboring Iran and the situation following the start of military operations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the press service of the Armenian government released information regarding the session. During the meeting, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Kristine Grigoryan, delivered a comprehensive report on the current state of affairs.
Participants expressed deep regret over the ongoing events and extended their condolences regarding the loss of life. Furthermore, the necessity of restoring peace in the region as soon as possible was emphasized. Following the discussions, the Prime Minister issued a series of relevant instructions to the appropriate authorities. It was noted that although they are not formal members of the Security Council, President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan also attended the meeting.
The regional security landscape has become increasingly complex following recent military escalations involving Iran. As a landlocked country sharing a strategic border with Iran, Armenia remains highly sensitive to shifts in regional stability, which directly impact its transport corridors and economic interests. This high-level meeting underscores the growing concerns among regional stakeholders regarding the potential for wider spillover effects in the South Caucasus.
