Armenia aims to increase its annual tourist influx to 3 million people by hosting major international music events. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the initiative during the presentation of the ruling Civil Contract party's pre-election program.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenpress, the government plans to allocate state budget funds annually to organize at least two concerts featuring world-renowned stars. "Our calculations show that when we invest these funds for such purposes, the increase in the number of tourists and their spending ensures a full return on investment," Pashinyan stated, emphasizing the positive impact on the national economy and the country's international image.
Tourism has become a focal point for economic diversification in the South Caucasus region. While Armenia seeks to leverage cultural events to attract visitors, the broader regional context remains shaped by the post-conflict normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for the opening of regional transport communications, which Baku maintains would significantly boost the economic and tourism potential of the entire region, fostering stability and growth across the South Caucasus.
