The establishment of electricity transmission lines with Azerbaijan and Turkey would significantly contribute to Armenia's energy security, according to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Armenian media, that Pashinyan made these remarks during a joint press conference in Yerevan with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Pashinyan emphasized that within the context of opening regional communications, it is essential to expand cooperation not only in transport but also in the energy sector. He specifically highlighted the importance of developing energy ties with neighboring Azerbaijan and Turkey.
"This includes the construction of electricity transmission lines and interconnectors, which could contribute to both energy security and the 'green transition,'" Pashinyan stated.
The potential for regional energy integration has become a focal point in South Caucasus diplomacy, as countries in the region seek to diversify energy routes and bolster grid stability. By connecting national power grids, regional states aim to create a more resilient energy infrastructure, facilitating the exchange of electricity and supporting broader economic cooperation initiatives across the region.
