Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has emphasized the necessity of maintaining high vigilance to prevent any illegal influence on the upcoming parliamentary election process.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pashinyan made these remarks during a government meeting held on May 7. He stated that the primary objective of the electoral process is to ensure that the vote is conducted in full compliance with international democratic standards.
The prime minister noted that the official election campaign is scheduled to begin on May 8, leading up to the parliamentary elections on June 7. He stressed that the free expression of the will of citizens and the prevention of any unlawful pressure on voters remain top priorities for the government. Pashinyan further instructed law enforcement agencies to be more proactive in identifying and preventing election bribery and other administrative violations, noting that while some work has been done, further diligence is required.
This upcoming election is viewed as a significant event for the political landscape of the region. It follows a period of significant change in the South Caucasus, particularly after the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in the Garabagh region, which has reshaped political discourse within Armenia.
