The Pakistani oil tanker "Shalamar" has successfully navigated through the Strait of Hormuz following the commencement of the American blockade in the region.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets, that the vessel has moved into the Gulf of Oman.
According to official reports, the Shalamar passed south of Iran's Larak Island yesterday, carrying approximately 450,000 barrels of oil loaded at Das Island in the United Arab Emirates. The tanker, which was reportedly at half-capacity, has designated the Port of Karachi as its final destination. The vessel is owned and operated by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.
The US military previously clarified that the current blockade measures are directed at Iranian ports and coastal areas rather than the Strait of Hormuz itself. According to US President Donald Trump's administration, transit through the strait is restricted specifically for vessels departing from or heading to Iranian ports. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes daily, making its security a matter of global economic significance.
