Member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have welcomed the progress achieved in the development of "green energy" projects and expressed firm support for the establishment of a regional energy corridor.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was highlighted in a joint statement issued following the second meeting of the OTS heads of government held today in Baku.
The document emphasizes the critical importance of strengthening regional energy security, diversifying energy sources, and ensuring the safety of energy transportation routes. "The meeting participants supported the efficient use and expansion of existing infrastructure for the transport of oil, gas, and other hydrocarbons. At the same time, the heads of government welcome the progress made in the development and transmission of 'green energy' projects and express their resolute support for the development of the Green Energy Corridor," the statement noted.
Furthermore, the statement underscored the significance of critical minerals for the energy security of participating countries and the necessity of cooperation in this field. The document also noted that member states support measures to promote energy efficiency, the exchange of best practices, and the exploration of cooperation opportunities in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
The Organization of Turkic States, formerly the Turkic Council, has increasingly focused on economic integration and energy connectivity among its members, which include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. This meeting in Baku aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic initiative to transform the South Caucasus into a renewable energy hub, particularly following the country's commitment to exporting wind and solar power from the liberated territories in Garabagh and East Zangezur to European markets.
