Romanian President Nicusor Dan has sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
In his letter, the Romanian official expressed his warmest congratulations and wished peace and prosperity to the Azerbaijani people. "The close and strong relations between our states are based on strategic interests. Azerbaijan is a good friend and reliable partner for Romania in the South Caucasus region," the letter reads. He highly appreciated President Ilham Aliyev's consistent efforts toward establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and reiterated Romania's commitment to supporting the development of dialogue between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the European Union. He also extended an invitation to the Azerbaijani leader to visit Romania to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Azerbaijan and Romania share a robust relationship, underpinned by a strategic partnership agreement signed in 2009. The two nations cooperate closely in key sectors, including energy and transport, with Azerbaijan playing a vital role in European energy security through projects like the Southern Gas Corridor.
