Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may decide to hold snap parliamentary elections amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, aiming to leverage his increasing public support and avoid a vote later this autumn. According to reports from the Al-Monitor portal citing informed sources, the Prime Minister is weighing the political benefits of an early ballot to secure his position before potential domestic challenges arise.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Netanyahu is particularly keen to avoid holding elections too close to the anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Sources indicate that a campaign during that period could be overshadowed by public demands for the establishment of an official commission of inquiry into the events of that day. Instead, Netanyahu reportedly intends to build his campaign around the strategic outcomes achieved during the military confrontations with Iran.

According to Al-Monitor, the Prime Minister seeks to extract political capital from the recent strikes against Iranian targets, fearing that a prolonged operation might not yield further successes for Israel. Under the current official schedule, the next general elections in Israel are not slated to take place until October 2026. However, the volatile regional security situation and shifting domestic approval ratings often lead to shifts in the country's political calendar.

The geopolitical landscape in the Middle East remains a focal point for international diplomacy, including for Azerbaijan, which maintains a balanced foreign policy and strategic interests in regional stability. As a key player in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan closely monitors developments in the Middle East that could impact global energy markets and security frameworks. The potential for early elections in Israel comes at a time of heightened tensions, where leadership decisions in Tel Aviv significantly influence the broader security architecture of the region.
