Many of the attempts to pollute the information environment directed against Azerbaijan consist of speculations regarding human rights.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated by Natig Mammadli, Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency (MEDIA), during an educational session on "Media and Human Rights." The event was organized by the Institute of Law and Human Rights in collaboration with MEDIA as part of the "Human Rights Month."

Mammadli noted a positive dynamic in awareness sessions held with media representatives regarding human rights, though he acknowledged that some gaps remain, particularly in reporting on children's rights. "Human rights are a priority. While there are some shortcomings, especially in information regarding children's rights and teenagers, we are addressing them," he said.

The official emphasized that the media plays a vital role in countering threats and misinformation. "If our media can correctly establish the principles of human rights and ensure their accurate coverage, it will make a significant contribution to the formation of Azerbaijan's international image," Mammadli stated.

Addressing legislative initiatives, the MEDIA official touched upon a draft law currently under discussion in Azerbaijan aimed at protecting children from harmful information on social networks. "The Azerbaijani state wants its new generation to be raised in a healthy manner, in accordance with state morality, family, and national-spiritual values. This is an issue that depends on our future," he concluded.
