US and Israeli forces have carried out an air strike against the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Al-Jazeera, reports that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has confirmed the incident. Officials stated that while the facility was targeted, the strike did not result in any environmental disaster.
"The attack on the Natanz facility is a violation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Due to precautionary measures taken beforehand, the strike on Natanz did not cause any leakage of radioactive materials," the organization said in an official statement. The strike comes amid reports of heightened regional instability following the death of Ali Khamenei.
The Natanz enrichment plant, located in the Isfahan province, is considered Iran's primary fuel enrichment facility and has been a focal point of international monitoring and previous sabotage attempts. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, the United States has maintained a policy of maximum pressure regarding Iran's nuclear program to prevent the proliferation of atomic weapons in the Middle East. This latest development marks a significant escalation in the long-standing geopolitical standoff over Iran's nuclear capabilities.
