A driver operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics has been arrested in the Goychay district of Azerbaijan.
The regional press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Operative Information Center-OMM that during measures conducted by officers of the State Road Police Division of the Goychay District Police Department, 34-year-old Teymur Hamidov was detained while driving. During a medical examination, it was confirmed that the driver had consumed marijuana.
The materials collected regarding T. Hamidov were submitted to the court for review. By court order, he has been sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention. This enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure road safety and combat drug-related offenses across the country.
In Azerbaijan, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a serious violation of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Law enforcement agencies have recently intensified surveillance and checkpoints in regional districts to reduce traffic accidents and prevent the use of prohibited substances among motorists. Such measures are aimed at maintaining public order and protecting the lives of citizens on the Republic's highways.
