A driver has been arrested in Azerbaijan's Jalilabad district for operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics. Traffic police officers stopped a VAZ 2106 brand automobile after the driver, identified as Zamiq Safarov, committed a traffic violation.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that Safarov was found to be driving without a valid license. Due to suspicions of drug use, he underwent a medical examination, which confirmed the presence of methamphetamine and marijuana in his system. Following a court ruling, Safarov was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to conduct regular operations across the country to ensure road safety and combat the illegal use of narcotics. Such measures are part of a broader national strategy to reduce traffic accidents caused by impaired driving and to maintain public order in regional districts. Law enforcement agencies in Azerbaijan have recently intensified surveillance on highways to identify drivers operating vehicles under the influence of prohibited substances.
