A Su-24M bomber belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force has crashed in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine, according to an official statement released by the military command.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident occurred at approximately 19:00 local time while the aircraft was conducting a training mission.

Tragically, both pilots on board the aircraft lost their lives in the crash. Search and rescue teams, along with law enforcement officials, are currently operating at the crash site to secure the area and investigate the wreckage.

Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties or injuries among the civilian population on the ground. Competent authorities have launched an investigation to determine the specific causes and circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Su-24M is a supersonic, all-weather attack aircraft that has been a staple of the Ukrainian Air Force's tactical aviation fleet since the country's independence. Such training flights are routine procedures for maintaining pilot readiness, though the loss of the aircraft and its crew marks a significant incident for the regional military command.
