The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan has approved the appointment and reassignment of judges to various courts in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, and other cities during its plenary session.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the issue was extensively discussed during the parliamentary session before being put to a vote. Under the approved decision, several judges have been reassigned to the Baku Court of Appeal, including Ayten Aliyeva, Telman Huseynov, and Elnur Nuriyev from the Baku Grave Crimes Court; Farid Ismayilzade from the Sheki Administrative Court; Elshan Abdullayev from the Shirvan Commercial Court; and Elmaddin Huseynov from the Nasimi District Court of Baku. Additionally, Rena Gafarova from the Sabail District Court of Baku was appointed to the Baku Court of Appeal, while Vahid Sadigov was relieved of his duties at the same court due to a change in his position.
Further judicial changes include the release of Nural Aliyev from his post at the Ganja Court of Appeal. Bilal Mammadov, previously a judge at the Baku Military Court, has been appointed to the Sumgait Court of Appeal. For the Sheki Court of Appeal, Etibar Mustafayev (Sheki Administrative Court) and Anar Asgarov (Aghsu District Court) were appointed. Meanwhile, Fakhri Hajizade (Sheki Administrative Court) and Nijat Aghabeyov (Lankaran District Court) were appointed to the Shirvan Court of Appeal.
Judicial reforms in Azerbaijan are carried out in accordance with state programs aimed at modernizing the legal system, increasing the efficiency of courts, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary. The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) regularly reviews judicial appointments to optimize the performance of appellate and regional courts across the Republic of Azerbaijan.
