Simultaneously, Tehran confirmed that discussions with Oman regarding the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz are ongoing. Reports indicate that the two nations are engaged in an intensive exchange of views concerning regional security issues and the status of maritime traffic.
The Strait of Hormuz is widely considered one of the most critical maritime chokepoints for global energy supplies. Approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway, meaning any escalation of tensions in the region has the potential to significantly impact international oil markets and global energy security.
