Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described the memorandum of understanding recently signed with the United States as a "historic document."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Pezeshkian shared his remarks regarding the agreement on the social media platform X.
The Iranian leader emphasized that sustainable peace can only be achieved through mutual respect. "Peace will be attained in the shadow of mutual respect," Pezeshkian stated. He further noted that while the Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to upholding its dignity and independence, it is also dedicated to fostering global peace, progress, and regional cooperation.
According to the President, the agreement has the potential to contribute significantly to strengthening stability in the region and expanding cooperation between states. Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran intends to pursue a foreign policy based on the principles of mutual respect and constructive dialogue in international relations.
This development marks a notable shift in diplomatic rhetoric between Tehran and Washington. Historically, relations between the two nations have been characterized by decades of tension, sanctions, and limited direct communication. Any formal agreement or memorandum of understanding between the two countries is closely monitored by the international community, as it carries significant implications for geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East and global energy markets.
