Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has expressed her confidence that the friendly relations between Italy and Azerbaijan will continue to develop and reach even higher levels in the future.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Italian leader made these remarks during a joint press statement with President Ilham Aliyev. Expressing her deep gratitude for the extensive discussions held during the meeting, Meloni emphasized, "We have reaffirmed our commitment to further expanding our cooperation."
The strategic partnership between Baku and Rome has seen significant growth in recent years, particularly in the energy and economic sectors. Italy remains one of Azerbaijan's top trading partners in the European Union, serving as a primary destination for Azerbaijani energy exports via the Southern Gas Corridor. This latest high-level meeting underscores the mutual intent to diversify bilateral ties beyond the energy sector, encompassing culture, education, and infrastructure development within the framework of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the two nations.
