The Media Development Agency (MEDIA) of Azerbaijan has issued a formal warning regarding the surge of disinformation and information manipulation observed amid ongoing military operations in the Middle East. The agency noted that a significant flow of misleading information has been detected across media platforms and social networks, which could lead to public confusion.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the statement was released by the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) to address the current information environment. "In a situation where disinformation risks are high, we call on all media entities to refer only to information from official sources and to avoid information manipulation. We urge journalists and public activists to disseminate only official data and refrain from posts that cause public anxiety," the statement emphasized.
The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan plays a central role in regulating and supporting the country's media landscape, ensuring that information dissemination adheres to legal and ethical standards. Given the volatile nature of regional conflicts, Azerbaijani authorities frequently emphasize the importance of information security to prevent the spread of unverified reports that could impact national stability. This appeal follows a broader strategy in Azerbaijan to enhance media literacy and protect the domestic information space from external and internal manipulation.
