The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued an urgent appeal to motorists regarding road safety and emergency access. The statement was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
The ministry emphasized that despite ongoing public awareness campaigns, some citizens continue to park vehicles in unauthorized or disorganized locations. This practice severely restricts the ability of special-purpose vehicles, including fire trucks, to reach incident sites promptly and perform critical rescue operations.
"The fire incident that occurred last night in a residential complex in the Bakikhanov settlement of the Sabunchu district in Baku serves as a stark reminder of this issue," the ministry stated.
In light of these challenges, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has urged drivers to adhere strictly to parking regulations. To ensure the effective deployment of firefighting and rescue equipment, as well as unhindered access to water hydrants, vehicles must be parked only in designated areas. Drivers are reminded to maintain appropriate distances between vehicles to allow for the free passage of emergency response units, which is vital for public safety and the rapid containment of emergencies.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations is the primary government body in Azerbaijan responsible for disaster management, fire safety, and civil defense. Ensuring clear access routes for emergency vehicles is a critical component of the ministry's mandate to protect citizens and property across the country.
