Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has addressed the various rumors and claims circulating about French President Emmanuel Macron.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the spokesperson shared her views during a conversation with host Andrey Malakhov for the "Vesti" news service. Zakharova responded with irony to the ongoing public discourse regarding the French leader's personal life and public appearances.
Recalling an incident from last year where Macron appeared to have his "right hand stuck" while disembarking from a plane, Zakharova commented on such claims mockingly. "We haven't seen the end of this drama," she remarked with a laugh. The diplomat further questioned whether such personal matters should be subject to public scrutiny, asking Malakhov if he believed everything was normal within the Macron family. Zakharova emphasized that family matters should remain behind closed doors and described the sensationalized reports about Macron and his wife as a "caricature," adding that such topics are more suited for satirical publications.
This exchange comes amid a period of heightened diplomatic tension between Moscow and Paris. Since the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, relations between Russia and France have deteriorated significantly, with both nations frequently engaging in sharp rhetorical exchanges. Maria Zakharova, known for her pointed and often undiplomatic critiques of Western leaders, frequently uses media appearances to challenge the public image of European officials as part of Russia's broader information strategy.
