Baku is currently hosting a high-level international conference featuring world leaders and representatives from various global organizations. Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili emphasized that the event serves as a vital platform for addressing issues of regional importance and advancing Georgia's national interests. She noted that the participation of the Georgian Prime Minister in this forum provides an opportunity to conduct bilateral meetings and articulate the country's positions on the global stage.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Bochorishvili made these remarks while commenting on the Georgian delegation's participation in the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku. She highlighted that a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev is scheduled during the visit, where the parties are expected to discuss the Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership and various aspects of bilateral cooperation. "As you know, our relations are at a high level; we have a strategic partnership. Azerbaijan is an essential partner, and communication on priority issues between our countries is crucial," the Foreign Minister added.
The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations in 2001, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting WUF13 in Baku underscores Azerbaijan's growing role as a major hub for international diplomacy and its commitment to global sustainable development goals. The forum brings together government officials, urban planners, and civil society leaders to discuss the future of cities, particularly in the context of rapid urban growth and climate challenges, further strengthening the regional cooperation between Azerbaijan and its neighbors.
