Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics is scheduled to pay an official visit to Armenia on May 7. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braze announced the visit during the "Yerevan Dialogue - 2026" conference. Braze emphasized the close relationship between Latvia and Armenia, noting that the countries are connected through high-level political dialogue and economic links. "Our president is arriving on an official visit tomorrow. We are united by several directions that we are actively developing, including connections between leaders, politicians, people, and economies. Notably, airBaltic will resume direct flights to Yerevan in June," the minister stated.
Latvia, as a member of the European Union and NATO, has historically maintained active diplomatic engagement with countries in the South Caucasus. This visit follows a pattern of increasing European interest in the region's stability and economic integration. The resumption of direct flights by Latvia's national carrier, airBaltic, is expected to further facilitate business and tourism exchanges, reflecting a broader trend of enhancing connectivity between the Baltic states and the Caucasus region.
