The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 3,605 cases of the Ebola virus, with 1,587 of these infections resulting in death, according to the latest data.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an urgent update regarding the escalating epidemic. The most recent figures were compiled as of July 30.

Health officials have noted that the geographical scope of the Ebola virus has expanded significantly within the country. The WHO statement emphasized the severity of the situation, noting, "This is the largest epidemic in the history of the Democratic Republic of Congo."

Ebola, a severe and often fatal illness in humans, is transmitted through direct contact with the blood, body fluids, and tissues of infected animals or people. Outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo have historically posed significant public health challenges due to the virus's high mortality rate and the complexities of delivering medical aid in affected regions. The WHO continues to coordinate international efforts to contain the spread and provide necessary medical support to affected communities.
