The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, has arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing APA, that the visit was confirmed by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan. During her stay in the capital, the High Representative is expected to hold high-level meetings to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security.
“Azerbaijan is a valuable and reliable energy partner for the European Union, which is why I am pleased to be in Baku today,” Kallas noted. She emphasized that there is significant potential for deepening cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, transport, and digital technologies.
The visit underscores the growing strategic importance of Azerbaijan as a key player in ensuring Europe's energy security. In recent years, Baku and Brussels have intensified their dialogue through the Southern Gas Corridor and various infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity between Europe and Central Asia. This diplomatic mission serves as a platform to further the partnership within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and individual bilateral agreements.
