Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev has expressed his deep condolences regarding the recent armed attacks on schools in Türkiye during a meeting with Yusuf Kuzu, Chairman of the 2nd Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Türkiye, who is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Prosecutor General's Office released information on the meeting. During the discussion, Kamran Aliyev expressed his profound sorrow over the loss of life and injuries, the majority of whom were children, resulting from the tragic incidents in the cities of Sanliurfa and Kahramanmaras. He extended his sympathies to the families and relatives of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

The incidents occurred over two consecutive days, causing significant shock across the region. On April 14, an armed attack on a high school in the Siverek district of Sanliurfa left one person dead and 16 others wounded. This was followed by a second tragedy on April 15 in Kahramanmaras, where a shooting at a school resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and left 13 others injured. Authorities in Türkiye are currently investigating the motives behind these violent acts.

Azerbaijan and Türkiye maintain a unique "one nation, two states" relationship, characterized by high-level cooperation in legal, political, and security matters. Such meetings between judicial officials serve to strengthen the bilateral legal framework and demonstrate mutual support during times of national mourning. The solidarity shown by Azerbaijani officials reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties and the strategic partnership existing between Baku and Ankara.
