US Vice President JD Vance has played a central role in organizing high-level negotiations between Washington and Tehran, scheduled to take place on April 11 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing CNN sources, that the discussions aim to solidify a recently established ceasefire regime. According to sources, several days of intensive negotiations will be required to reach a sustainable agreement.

"Furthermore, the Pakistan authorities hope to persuade JD Vance to remain in the country for an extended period to help achieve this goal," the report noted. It is further stated that the Iranian side does not trust Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, who led previous rounds of talks and is part of the current delegation. While both Iranian and American delegations have already arrived in Islamabad, the exact start time for the proceedings has not yet been disclosed.

The diplomatic push follows a significant military escalation that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched operations against Iran, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking officials, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran targeted military bases used by the US and its allies in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, and Cyprus. Subsequently, on April 8, a two-week ceasefire was agreed upon between Iran, the United States, and their respective allies, setting the stage for the current mediation efforts in the Pakistani capital.
