US Trade Representative Jamison Greer has stated that one of the most significant outcomes of US President Donald Trump's state visit to China was the establishment of new channels for sincere dialogue between the two nations.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Greer shared these details during an interview with ABC news channel.
Greer noted that during the previous administration, effective communication mechanisms between Washington and Beijing were largely absent. "Under US President Donald Trump, the United States has been able to achieve strategic stability in relations with China. This state visit has opened the door to more candid dialogue and real progress on the most critical issues of our time," Greer emphasized.
The Trade Representative added that complex bilateral economic issues are expected to be addressed through the creation of a joint trade council, an initiative previously announced by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. This move signals a shift in Washington's economic approach, prioritizing structured bilateral engagement to resolve long-standing trade discrepancies.
The diplomatic engagement between the world's two largest economies remains a focal point of global geopolitics. Historically, US-China relations have fluctuated between cooperation and intense competition over trade, technology, and regional security. The current administration's focus on establishing direct communication channels is seen by analysts as a strategic effort to manage economic competition while maintaining global market stability.
