The Israeli parliament (Knesset) has officially concluded its activities ahead of the general elections scheduled for October 27.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the bill to dissolve the parliament was adopted unanimously during a vote in the Knesset. With this decision, the legislative body's four-year term has formally ended.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana stated that during this term, nine budget bills and hundreds of laws were passed. He expressed his gratitude to the deputies for their service. It is noted that in Israel's political history, it is a rare occurrence for a government and parliament to complete a full four-year term; the last such instance was recorded in 1988.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has successfully completed a parliamentary term without calling early elections for the first time during his 2022-2026 administration. According to the Israel Democracy Institute, elections in the country have historically been held on average every 2.4 years, highlighting the significance of this full-term completion.
