The commander of Hezbollah's Southern Front, Haji Yusuf Ismail Hashim, has been killed in a targeted operation in Beirut. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strike marks a significant blow to the militant group's leadership structure.

The operation was conducted by the Israeli Navy under the strategic direction of military intelligence and the Northern Command. Official reports indicate that Haji Yusuf Ismail Hashim assumed leadership of the Southern Front in September 2024, following the elimination of his predecessor, Ali Karaki. During his career spanning over 40 years, Hashim commanded several key units, including the "Nasir", "Aziz", and "Badr" divisions, which were actively involved in combat operations against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

The Southern Front is the primary Hezbollah unit responsible for orchestrating attacks against Israeli citizens and engaging IDF forces in southern Lebanon. Hashim was specifically accused of overseeing rocket and aerial strikes on Israeli territory and played a central role in reconstructing the organization's combat capabilities. This development occurs amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing military operations aimed at neutralizing threats along Israel's northern border, reflecting the intensifying conflict between the IDF and Hezbollah forces in the region.
