The Israeli Air Force has destroyed a Mi-17 helicopter at the Sanandaj airport in western Iran. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released an official statement regarding the operation.

"On Wednesday night, Israeli Air Force aircraft, acting on precise intelligence from the Defense Forces, identified and struck an Iranian Mi-17 helicopter at the Sanandaj airport," the statement read. The operation is reportedly part of a broader strategy to weaken the military potential of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force and to consolidate Israel's aerial superiority in western Iran.

The Mi-17 is a Soviet-designed multipurpose helicopter frequently utilized by the IRGC for transport, search and rescue, and armed support missions. Sanandaj, the capital of Iran's Kurdistan Province, serves as a strategic hub in the western region of the country. This targeted strike follows a period of heightened regional tensions and reflects the ongoing shadow conflict between Israel and Iran, characterized by precision operations aimed at degrading advanced military assets and logistics networks.
