Israel has alleged that Iran is planning an assassination attempt against US President Donald Trump. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter, intelligence shared by Israel with Washington indicates that Tehran is actively plotting against the US President.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these allegations signal a potential further escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran. It is noted that Iran has repeatedly vowed to seek revenge against the United States for the 2020 killing of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the elite Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The report highlights that Ali Shamkhani, the former secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, had previously stated that officials were discussing "13 revenge scenarios," warning that even the weakest option could become a "historic nightmare" for Americans. Shamkhani reportedly died alongside six other Iranian military commanders during Israeli strikes on Tehran in February 2026.

While the Israeli embassy in Washington declined to comment on the assassination allegations, and Iran's permanent mission to the UN did not immediately respond to requests for comment, the White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump addressed the threat during a recent NATO summit.

"They want to eliminate the US leader – me. I am on every list of theirs. I have been a little lucky so far, but that might not last very long," President Trump stated.

Despite the heightened tensions, which have been exacerbated by recent reciprocal attacks between the US and Iran following an Iranian assault on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed to maintain close coordination during recent communications.

The ongoing friction between Washington and Tehran remains a focal point of international security concerns, particularly given the historical context of retaliatory threats following the 2020 Soleimani operation and the current regional instability in the Middle East.
