Numerous heads of state and leaders of international organizations gathered in Yerevan on Monday for the 8th European Political Community (EPC) summit.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that leaders are arriving at the venue in the Armenian capital as part of the high-level gathering. The summit is being held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, where Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is receiving the visiting dignitaries.
Among the first to arrive at the event were Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, and other prominent officials. This year, the summit is conducted under the motto "Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe." During the negotiations, leaders are expected to discuss the expansion of cooperation in sectors such as energy, transport, digital technology, and infrastructure connectivity. The agenda also includes a focus on global challenges, including the situation surrounding Ukraine and the consequences of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The adoption of a joint statement and the signing of documents aimed at developing the EU-Armenia partnership are anticipated during the proceedings.
The European Political Community was established in 2022 as a platform for political and strategic discussions regarding the future of the continent, involving both EU member states and neighboring nations. These summits serve as a critical forum for addressing regional security and economic integration. For the South Caucasus region, such international platforms are often utilized to discuss the normalization of relations and the opening of regional transport links, which remain central to the strategic interests of Azerbaijan and its neighbors in ensuring long-term peace and economic prosperity.
