The Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran have issued an official statement regarding new regulations for vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the IRGC has characterized the announcement of new maritime routes by certain officials without coordination with the Iranian side as an unacceptable and dangerous action.

The statement emphasizes that the only reliable and authorized routes for transit through the Strait of Hormuz are the maritime corridors officially designated by the Iranian authorities. The IRGC warned that deviating from these established routes is strictly prohibited, as such actions pose significant security risks. Consequently, all vessels have been advised to strictly adhere to these designated corridors.

Furthermore, the IRGC Naval Forces reiterated that it is mandatory for all vessels intending to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to maintain communication and coordinate with Iranian naval units via Channel 16. The organization warned that appropriate enforcement measures will be taken against any vessels that fail to comply with the established regulations and designated routes.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, serving as a vital artery for global energy supplies. Approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway, making any changes to navigation protocols or security measures a matter of significant international concern regarding global energy security and maritime trade stability.
