Iran has announced the suspension of activities for seven of its schools operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait, transitioning students to distance learning programs.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Ali Farhadi, a spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Education, provided details on the shift. He stated that while some students will continue their education under the supervision of Iranian schools in Oman, others will be taught online by institutions based within Iran.

Farhadi noted that the decision affects approximately 2,500 Iranian students in the UAE and has drawn various reactions. According to the spokesperson, coordination with Omani authorities will allow students to complete their studies through the end of the academic year. The report added that Iranian schools in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE are currently operating in a virtual mode to ensure the academic year is finalized successfully.

Iran maintains a significant network of educational institutions across the Gulf region to serve its expatriate populations. However, these schools frequently encounter administrative and licensing challenges in host countries. The transition to virtual platforms reflects a broader trend in the region to adapt educational services to changing regulatory environments and diplomatic shifts, ensuring that students do not face disruptions in their curriculum.
