Iran is facing a prolonged and severe disruption in international internet connectivity, marking 69 consecutive days of nationwide outages.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the internet monitoring organization NetBlocks has released data regarding the ongoing restrictions.
According to the organization, the nationwide internet outage has entered its 69th day, following 1,632 hours of serious connectivity interruptions. NetBlocks emphasized that this situation disproportionately affects independent workers and has led to significant job losses. Furthermore, the monitoring service noted that the blocking of international access results in the redistribution of economic resources toward government-affiliated groups.
Internet shutdowns and digital restrictions in Iran are often implemented during periods of social unrest or to manage the flow of information during sensitive political developments. These measures significantly hinder the country's digital economy, particularly affecting e-commerce, freelance sectors, and international communication. Such long-term disruptions are viewed by international observers as a major barrier to both economic stability and freedom of information in the region.
