Iran has expressed its readiness to sign agreements with European, Asian, and Arab nations regarding the use of the Strait of Hormuz for maritime transit.

Elias Hazrati, head of the Information Council of the Iranian government, announced the proposal, according to Operative Information Center-OMM. Hazrati emphasized that the Islamic Republic maintains full control over the strategic waterway and dismissed recent remarks by US President Donald Trump concerning the region.

"Iran has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. US President Donald Trump is speaking nonsense about the strait. We have reached a conclusion today that we can announce an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz. We will invite European, Asian, and Arab countries that wish to utilize it to sign an agreement with us," Hazrati stated during his address.

The statement follows a recent address by US President Donald Trump, who suggested that full shipping operations in the Strait of Hormuz would be restored following the conclusion of regional tensions. President Trump noted that the United States does not rely on supplies through the strait and asserted that countries utilizing the route for oil transportation should take responsibility for restoring and maintaining navigation through the passage.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, situated between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It serves as the primary transit route for approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption. Given its strategic importance, any disruption to the flow of traffic through the strait has significant implications for global energy markets and international security, often serving as a focal point for geopolitical negotiations between regional powers and the international community.
