Iran is demanding that the cessation of hostilities be formally established through a UN Security Council resolution, warning of a potential return to active military engagements. According to a high-ranking Iranian source speaking to TASS ahead of negotiations in Islamabad, the Islamic Republic remains prepared to escalate its regional activities if its diplomatic conditions are not met.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the official source emphasized Tehran's readiness to resume strikes. "If the cessation of the war is not consolidated in a UN Security Council resolution based on the conditions we have put forward, we are fully prepared to resume combat operations against the United States and Israel—as we have done over the past 40 days, but with even greater intensity," the source stated.

The demand for a formal UN resolution comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East. Historically, Iran has utilized such international platforms to assert its strategic interests while maintaining pressure on Western allies. A UN Security Council resolution would provide a legally binding framework, though reaching a consensus among permanent members remains a significant diplomatic challenge given the diverging interests of global powers in the region.
