Tehran remains open to negotiations with Washington provided the United States administration demonstrates readiness for sincere and equal dialogue aimed at achieving a substantive agreement.

Speaking in an interview with CNN, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, stated that Iran only accepts negotiations conducted in accordance with international norms and based on mutual respect, according to Operative Information Center-OMM. Qalibaf noted that the current approach of US President Donald Trump does not meet these criteria. "If the discussion is about negotiations for a real agreement within an international framework, it can be viewed positively. However, in the current situation, what Trump wants is not dialogue, but simply an attempt to impose his will on others," the Speaker added. He further remarked that if US President Donald Trump seeks peace and a Nobel Peace Prize, he must distance himself from forces promoting war and abandon demands for Iran's surrender.

Relations between Tehran and Washington have remained strained over several decades, primarily centered on Iran's nuclear program and regional influence. The potential for renewed dialogue comes at a critical juncture for Middle Eastern geopolitics, where diplomatic engagement is often weighed against military posturing. Qalibaf warned that while the US could initiate a military confrontation, controlling the consequences would be difficult, noting that American soldiers stationed thousands of miles away in the Middle East would face significant risks in the event of an escalation.
